Local TV Station airs special series on unclaimed property program

Aug 02 2016

The West Virginia Treasury and its unclaimed property division received a generous dose of exposure in the month of July, as WCHS-TV chose to devote a four-part series on the return of assets to rightful owners.

WCHS’ series began on July 6 and ran consecutively each Tuesday through the month. The introductory installment gave an overview of just what unclaimed property is and highlighted Treasurer John Perdue’s battle of forcing life insurance companies to turn over proceeds to the unclaimed property program.

The next two stories in WCHS’ special report followed Treasurer Perdue as he made check presentations, returning unclaimed property to Billie Blair of East Bank and to the Logan County Emergency Ambulance Authority.

In the final segment, WCHS’ own Jennifer McAndrews discovered she had a small amount of unclaimed assets in her name. Treasurer Perdue and an unclaimed property claims specialist on staff aided in her search.

If you’ve never checked to see if we’re holding unclaimed property for you, now is the time. Like Jennifer McAndrews, you may be surprised to find we have money for you. Click here and search for your name now!
